RE: MANDATORY CLASS FOR INTERMEDIATE EMT’S
East Alabama EMS will offer a class for Intermediate EMT’s who desire to be eligible to renew their licenses. This course was brought about by the decision (by SEMCC) to not make the existing Intermediates go through the Advanced EMT education and sit for the National Registry exam. In the hierarchy of EMS in Alabama the Intermediates will be viewed as a step above the advanced EMT's. Intermediates, may utilize the new formulary after successful completion of this course.
This is not an optional class; if not attending they (intermediates) will not be eligible to renew their license.
Dr. Sarah Nafziger will conduct the first class in each region and any additional classes will be conducted by Regional EMS staff, this is Not a Train-the-trainer type class.
The class is an anticipated 3 hour session with an additional hour allotted for an exam. Unsuccessful Intermediates will have the opportunity for remedial training by Regional staff and retake the exam.
ADPH’s goal is to have all Intermediates through the class by December 31, 2011.
The East Region will have class on
